A fantastic journey that invites us to discover the value of friendship, silence and listening.

In search of the quietest place
Following Killer, this new venture into musical theatre comes from the Auditori de Barcelona’s Cantània Project, which commissions a cantata every year from a playwright for nine instrumentalists and a large choir made up of second- and third-year primary pupils from schools in Catalonia, the rest of Spain and Germany. Guillem Clua writes the libretto for a fantastic journey starring a young girl. The score is by composer Mariona Vila.
The cantata Ha passat un àngel tells the story of Júlia (Laia Frigolé), who is overwhelmed by the noise of the big city and the problems at home. She meets a magical being (Ferran Carvajal) from the Kingdom of Silence: Àngel. He communicates only through gesture and dance. Together they set out to find the way back to Àngel’s home, travelling through different parts of the planet—the desert, Antarctica, the seabed and even outer space—in search of the quietest place that exists. Along the way, they discover the value of friendship, silence and listening to others.
Cantània is an unforgettable musical experience for pupils. Since 1989, a renowned Catalan composer and a playwright responsible for the libretto have been commissioned each year to create a cantata. The aim is a musical show that can essentially be sung with one voice and features a large children’s choir on stage, alongside a high-level professional orchestra. The project involves hundreds of primary schools, with three training sessions organised throughout the year so pupils can prepare for the final performances.
