Four new projects written by Guillem Clua
Several audiovisual projects with scripts by Guillem Clua have been announced in recent weeks. They include three films and a television series at different stages of production, with releases planned between 2026 and 2027.
The most imminent release is Viaje al país de los blancos, an adaptation of Ousman Umar’s bestseller of the same name, directed by Dani Sancho and starring Umar himself, playing his own story, alongside Emma Vilarasau. The production by Atresmedia Cine and Mundo Crea, among others, will be shown as a preview on 8 March at the Málaga Film Festival and will have its official cinema release on 26 June.
Filming of the feature film En nombre de otro ended in Barcelona in January. It is directed by Oriol Paulo, who also co-wrote the screenplay. The action thriller stars Eduard Fernández, Mario Casas, Alexandra Jiménez, Blanca Suárez and Nicolás Francella and will be released on Netflix. It is the third collaboration between Paulo and Clua, after the series El inocente and the adaptation of Torcuato Luca de Tena’s novel Los renglones torcidos de Dios.
More recently, filming also wrapped on En el círculo del asesino, a Netflix true-crime series created by Sergio G. Sánchez from the real story of the first serial killer in Spain’s recent history. The series stars Belén Rueda, Gabriela Andrada and Catalina Sopelana. The cast is completed by Alfons Nieto, Francesc Orella, Loreto Mauleón, Nacho Fresneda, César Mateo, Carlos Serrano, Eneko Sagardoy, Paula Usero, Nao Albet and Albert Pla, among others. The production is being handled by Morena Films.
Finally, filming has just been announced for November for Hay alguien en el jardín, Jaume Balagueró’s next genre film, based on an original screenplay by Guillem Clua. Starring Úrsula Corberó, the film combines horror and police thriller elements and centres on a ten-year-old girl who claims that the house her family has just moved into is haunted. It is scheduled for release in 2027.
